Research and Development

The role of R & D Division of the college is to enhance research and development activities to enable Prakasam Engineering College to become a renowned Intellectual corporation fostering excellent research, development, sponsored projects, consultancy, continuing education and Industry Institute Interaction in addition to excellent teaching.

The R&D division motivates the faculty members to carry out research work in areas of their interest, generate project proposals to seek grants from various funding agencies, establish Centres of Excellence in the college and to interact with Industries in and around Chennai with an aim to set up Technology Business Incubator to facilitate speedy commercialization of research outputs .

To enable the departments to take up research and consultancy, periodically laboratories of various departments are modernized in consultation with experts in industries working in the concerned areas. The college allocates budget for various Research & Development activities.

R&D Center of Assurgent Technologies , one among a very few colleges having such facility of any company in the country.

The college library is a repository of books on various disciplines of Engineering, Management, Humanities, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and other interdisciplinary subjects.

It has a wide collection of about 35,500 volumes with 17,227 titles which includes 15876 reference books. The library subscribes to 100 national journals and 49 international journals (which includes 40 IEEE journals). More than 500 CD ROM is available for reference.

The library is housed in a spacious building and all its operations are computerized and automated. The library information could be accessed by the members

The college library has a book bank catering to the needs of SC/ST students with hundres of books. Students belonging to these communities are eligible to borrow and Reprographic facilities are available for the benefit of students and staff.

The College provides separate accommodation for girls & boys both for Engineering & MCA Students. These are located in calm and quiet surroundings favourable for studies. Two new hostels have already been inaugurated & presently students are residing in the hostels located inside the campus. One for boys and one for girls.

The college has installed its own RailTel tower in order to provide 24 hours internet facility to the students of all branches of Engg. & MCA with a bandwidth of 512 KBPS. Students can access the Computer Center round the clock.
